Let's talk chores...

So, seeing as the whole reason for Skivvy Mom was because I don't want to be the Skivvy anymore...I decided to let my kids help me more around the house.  Sounds easy, right?  But let's be honest, it's not easy!

When you ask them to do something there is always some excuse.  And the excuses get better and more creative by the day.  Just last week my daughter told me she can't make her bed right this minute because she has to choose her outfit for Friday's civvy day!

Now I know a lot of people don't agree with rewarding chores and behaviours but if you are like me and the kids are constantly asking for money and you are tired of doing everything by yourself, why not make them work for their allowance and reward the chores?

I have two tweens in the house.  They are old enough to clean their rooms, help with dinner and dishes and take out the trash.  So I made an excel sheet for each of them with their daily chores, I printed it out and put it on the fridge. And I have to say, it is going extremely well.....  So far.  They start their week with a set amount and for each chore or responsibilty that they did not do, I deduct money.  And they hate losing money, so they do what they have to do.  It's a win-win situation.  Here is the link if you want to try out my excel chore chart.  It's free!

But, I also have my bonus child on weekends and she is a lot younger than my other two.  So I realised the same excel sheet I made for them will not work for her.  She has different, age appropriate chores and I wanted something more fun and colourful for her.  She will obviously not have a lot of chores but simple things like packing toys away, getting dressed by herself and brushing her teeth will go on the chore charts.
